MEET THE CARTEL

SoundCartel is a leading full-service audio content and podcast agency.

Based in Melbourne, we have more than 35 years’ experience bringing stories to life with the power of audio.

We produce, deliver and measure the very best audio and podcast content, quickly and professionally, working closely with our clients throughout the process.

At a time when words couldn’t matter more, SoundCartel is the agency for an audio-first world.

A Rich History

SoundCartel, formerly BE Media Production, was established in 1984 by acclaimed journalist and broadcaster, the late Michael Schildberger who, together with the highly regarded economist Professor Neville Norman, had a vision to take high quality business information to a wider range of businesses.

BE Audio Magazine CoversThis motivation prompted the production of the monthly Business Essentials audio series – the first subscription-based audio business magazine in the world, designed for small and medium-sized businesses. After a first attempt at offering the series in video, Michael and Neville quickly switched to audio after market demand indicated business people were on the move and needed a more convenient format for listening – such as in-car.

Across three decades, we have built a robust podcast agency, with clients including major banks, insurance groups, accounting firms, software companies, building contractors, mining companies, medical colleges and pharmacy groups. Today we continue to create first class audio and podcasts for the likes of Realestate.com.au, Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and many more.

From Australia’s largest brands to the smallest of businesses, we’ve elevated their brand voice and shared their stories building new audiences and delighting existing ones.

Meet The Team

We’re a close-knit group of experienced professionals made up of career journalists, technical experts and best-in-class audio producers and strategists.

Brands of all sizes, associations, thought leaders and government have trusted us as a ‘safe pair of hands’ to take them through the entire audio creation process.

Nick's passion for creating engaging audio grew as he worked alongside his father, Michael Schildberger, the founder of the business. Nick has overseen the production of audio projects with a range of organisations, including Westpac, MYOB, Telstra, Officeworks, the Department of Health and Ageing, and the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

She's been an integral member of the team since 2009, looking after a range of roles in accounts, administration and subscription management. Advocating for men's health

SoundCartel has been an enthusiastic supporter of men’s health, and in particular raising awareness of prostate cancer, since our founder Michael Schildberger was diagnosed in 1997.

Michael was a founding board member of The Healthy Male (previously known as Andrology Australia), and generously shared his story in the hopes that more men would look after their health.

Our Managing Director, Nick Schildberger, also was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2021, coincidentally the same year RULE Prostate Cancer was formed. RULE is committed to working towards the day that no Australian man will die of prostate cancer.

With Nick whole heartedly sharing in this mission, RULE asked Nick and the Schildberger family to share the cancer journey they went on together. The goal being to save more legends, by encouraging early testing via a simple blood test.

This is a cause very close to the hearts of everyone at SoundCartel, so we were delighted to produce the video below.

It would make an even greater difference if you’d be able to share the video and consider making a donation to RULE.
