The Brief
Society places a negative connotation on failure. However, for many small business owners, failure is often an inevitable part of establishing and running a business. The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources identified the need to start a conversation about failure from a small business perspective. It was decided a podcast would allow for long form storytelling, exploring how businesses fail and the impact on business owners, their families, networks and employees.
The Approach
SoundCartel suggested a narrative style podcast series of six episodes to allow for a range of voices to explore six central themes – one in each episode. A thorough strategy session with the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources confirmed the six themes and set the course for the production process. We undertook the entire production process, from researching and interviewing 20+ experts and real business owners, to scripting and finishing all six documentary style episodes with appropriate music.
The RESULT
Bouncing Back was launched on the Ahead for Business website and is growing an audience of small to medium business owners. The Department was delighted that Apple Podcasts featured the podcast, in pole position, on its ‘Inspiration For Your Business’ list.
